In the Joseon Dynasty, proponents of n´ë-Confucianism(ñ¹íùÊ) had refused the doctrine of Wang Yangming in that it was heresy which deviated from the orthodoxy of Confucianism. As Neo-Confucianism restrained the autonimy authoritatively, a few of scholars, in the latter period of the Joseon dynasty, began to study the doctrine of Wang Yangming profoundly. Thus the arguments between the N´ë Confucianism and the doctrine of Wang Yangming were developed.
There were two important marks in the development of the doctrine of Wang Yangming in Korea. On the first mark, the most important scholar was Jeong Jaedoo(ï÷ðºÔà) who confused the criticism about the doctrine of Wang Yangming. In the late 17th Century, Jeong Jaedoo disputed with his teacher, Park Sechae(ÚÓá¦óú) and his friends, Choi Sukjeong(õËà¸ð£) and Min Leeseung(ÚÊì¤ã®) about the doctrine of Wang Yangming. he tried to overcome the dualistic division of Neo-Confucianism and to establish a monistic basis.
