Part one of this book examines how education of indigenous thoughts and philosophies in different areas in the Asia-Pacific region can relate with democracy and how philosophical understanding and how education of Indian thought, Buddhism, and Confucianism can be reconciled with democracy through the examples of India, Japan, and Korea. Part two addresses how the issues and ideologies of democracy in the Western political thinking can be studied and understood in the Asia-Pacific region. Part three contains two articles which reviewed philosophical and educational methodology for democracy as a problem of practice and application of the theories. This book deals in detail with approaches to the development of democracy and philosophical education in consideration of different regional characteristics.
